A dreamer, an optimist and a passionate individual who likes to dig out light at the end of every tunnel. I am an entrepreneur by profession, an adventurer by spirit, a designer by passion and a philanthropist by choice. 24 years ago, my husband and I delved in to the clothing business and set up the first signature boutique, Trends, in Multan. Safe to say, we are the pioneers in the fashion industry in the southern Punjab.
Founded on the philosophy of bringing something different to people, we have always enjoyed the edge in the market with respect to our designs, quality and pricing. It was a breakthrough for us as we expanded in to different genres, brought a vast variety of fabrics of different aesthetic to Multan and revamped the dressing dynamics in the region. We participated in national and international exhibits and made name offshores as well.
We launched our second brand SILKZ in Multan that pioneered the variety in the block printed, screen prints, discharge prints, digital prints and hand embroideries on all 100% pure silk. All of it, with pride was made in Pakistan.
Stepping into the fashion and clothing industry gave us an opportunity to train thousands of artisans. We have changed the landscape of women employment in our region. Trends has empowered thousands of women artisans, and has been a source of earning livelihood for families. We take immense pride in preserving our local design aesthetic and contemporizing them.
I love my work, my family, exploring new ideas, concepts, places, food and cultures. I am ever so grateful to God for offering me opportunities to utilise my experience and share my vision to change the landscape of opportunities in Southern Punjab. I have always believed in paying back to society and thus became a change agent to transform the economic empowerment of women in Multan through reformational framework.
An advocate of women empowerment and skill enrichment, I have engaged in policy making and implementation programs to reform the entrepreneurship ecosystem in Pakistan. I have worked on international and national projects across the world to be the voice of women. My humble contributions may be a drop in the ocean but they have created ripples locally, nationally and now internationally. I envision to increase the female employment in Pakistan to a level that it becomes a key contributor in the GDP of Pakistan and open gateways of growth in economy of Pakistan.
If our visions align, let’s have a cup of tea together!
